About Ryan Svendsen

I am the Head of Music at Angel Studios, where I oversee creative music strategies across the studio’s slate with a clear mission to amplify light through storytelling. I work at the intersection of music, film, and audience impact, helping shape how stories are emotionally experienced and remembered.Previously, I served as Head of Music and Music Supervisor at Millennium Media, and before that as Director of Film and TV Music at Lionsgate. During my time at Lionsgate, I managed the release of more than 70 soundtracks, including the Academy Award-winning film La La Land, which received Oscars for Best Original Song and Best Original Score.While my primary focus is music for visual media, I have also built a successful career as a trumpet player and horn arranger. My work has contributed to more than 6 billion streams worldwide, with credits alongside artists including Christina Aguilera, Jack Harlow, Shawn Mendes, 070 Shake, Paul Russell, and Lil Nas X on the 7x platinum, Grammy-nominated hit Industry Baby. I also contributed to Beyoncé’s Grammy Award-winning Album of the Year, Cowboy Carter.I am deeply committed to arts education and mentorship. I teach Music Supervision at my alma mater, UCLA’s Herb Alpert School of Music, and I am honored to have served on the school’s Alumni Board for 6 years.Outside of music, I am an avid masters swimmer and have swum from Alcatraz three times, voluntarily :) Driven by a lifelong love of music, I am dedicated to creating meaningful, memorable soundscapes that elevate visual storytelling and connect audiences to stories that matter.

   Jan 2024 — Present

   Launched Angel’s Music division overseeing all creative music strategies, clearances, licensing, publishing, admin, and soundtracks. Secured music talent partnerships for original song opportunities with artists such as Andrea Bocelli, Lauren Daigle, Kristin Chenoweth, and Phil Wickham. Established full cycle clearances across films/series and trailers including creative, negotiation, confirmation, licensing and payment. Music Supervise select titles Formulated agreements and maintain relationships with PROs for Angel app. Launched Angel Records and “Angel” as an artist on all DSP’s leading to over 60M+ impressions in first 6 months. Secured a blanket music library deal to cover all of Angels marketing needs. Oversee Angel music publishing catalog and partnered with top music admin to maximize returns. Onboard talent and filmmakers to the possibilities of how music can enhance and bring value to their projects- from trailers, to original songs to soundtracks to syncs to full music supervision services!
