Currently migrating service oriented architecture systems from Amazon EC2 to Amazon Kubernetes using Terraform.October 2021 - March 2022 - Technical Lead for our custom in-house built communications platform which sends 1 billion emails monthly.Member of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion (DEI) Council July December 2021Co-Chair of Asian Pacific Islander Employee Resource GroupIn 2018 Change.org built a custom email system in house using the Elixir programming language. Migrating from an old legacy email system. The email systems sends over 1 billion emails per month to users. Responsible for team\'s technical leadership, sprint planning and execution, retros, team health and individual contributions contributions to our communications platform.We build our communications platform using Elixir, Phoenix and Broadway. Heavy use of and implementation Event Driven Architecture(EDA). Using mainly Amazon Web Services(AWS) products such as Simple Notification System (SNS), Simple Queue Service (SQS) and Elastic Kubernetes Service (EKS). Use of terraform to create services in AWS. I have a Masters in Public Administration (MPA) and Bachelors of Science in Computer Science from California State University Northridge (CSUN). I don\'t do full stack software engineering. I was previously a Senior Engineer at Upworthy where I did Ruby on Rails engineering. I joined Upworthy in January 2013 when the company was only 11 months old and was hired as the 4th engineer. In 2012 I was an Engineer on the Tech Team at Obama for America. We helped re-elect the President of the United States. Prior to OFA I worked at Code for America as the Technical Lead. I was also an inaugural 2011 Code for America Fellow. Code for America is a non profit technology startup based in San Francisco that brings top web professionals to give a year of service building web 2.0 apps for local governments. At Code for America I have worked on many open source projects including creating Ruby Gems and ArcGIS applications. Prior to Code for America I worked for the City of Santa Clarita as a Senior Information Technology Analyst in the division of Technology Services. I have over 5+ years of experience developing local government applications and management in the Information Technology sector of local government. I began working at the City of Santa Clarita as an Application Development Contractor and moved with increasing responsibility each year from IT Specialist, IT Analyst and Senior IT Analyst.I have a wide variety of experience developing applications for local government. This includes land use management software, permitting software, ArcGIS mapping and various other local government applications.
