ABOUT RYANNE PETERSON

I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor-Supervisor (LCMHC-S), higher-education administrator, nonprofit founder, and nationally engaged mental health advocate working at the intersection of mental health, education, leadership development, and community impact. I help individuals, teams, and organizations build sustainable wellness practices, strengthen leadership, and create psychologically safe, high-performing environments.I currently serve as Director of Counseling Services at Bennett College, a historically Black college for women in Greensboro, NC. I am also the Owner and Clinical Director of OIC Counseling & Wellness, PLLC in Durham, NC, and Co-Dean of the Durham Chapter of the Awesome Foundation, where I support monthly micro-grants for innovative, community-driven projects. Across these roles, I lead clinical services, design mental health and wellness programming, facilitate leadership and staff trainings, and consult on student support, employee well-being, and equity-centered care.Previously, I spent over eight years as a middle school counselor with Durham Public Schools, where I was recognized for excellence in counseling and social-emotional learning, including honors such as Middle School Counselor of the Year and Social Emotional Learning Educator to Watch. In 2015, I founded GEMS (Girls Enthusiastically Motivated to Succeed), an after-school leadership and empowerment program for middle school girls.In 2018, I founded MastHERpiece, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to helping young women, particularly Black girls, redefine success through leadership development, mentorship, and financial investment. I am also the founder of the Revive Black Mental Health Conference and a sought-after speaker, facilitator, and keynote presenter, leading trainings on mental health equity, burnout prevention, leadership development, team well-being, and holistic wellness across higher education, nonprofit, and corporate spaces.My national leadership includes serving as a Pod Director with the Boris Lawrence Henson Foundation and as a member of The Steve Fund’s HBCU Council. I am also a certified yoga instructor and integrate movement, mindfulness, and somatic practices into my clinical, educational, and facilitation work.At my core, I am a mother, educator, mentor, and community builder committed to helping people and organizations thrive through intentional care and sustainable systems of support.
