ABOUT RYAN MCCUAIG

I am a dual qualified (Scotland and England & Wales) litigation and dispute resolution lawyer specialising in complex construction, engineering and energy disputes, and dispute avoidance. As a Senior Associate at Anderson Strathern, I advise businesses, project stakeholders and legal teams on high-value and technically complex matters across the UK and represent them in court, adjudication, arbitration, mediation and other dispute resolution processes. I lecture on the Construction Law LLM at the University of Strathclyde and tutor trainee solicitors on behalf of the Law Society of Scotland. I am a member of the Society of Construction Law and an Associate Member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators. Alongside my legal practice, I am an award-winning social mobility speaker and advocate delivering sessions for universities, colleges, professional organisations and firms on access to competitive professions, early-career performance and inclusive talent development. Drawing on my own journey into the legal profession, as a care experienced, first-generation graduate, I help people and organisations with widening access and progression in their organisations and in their own careers. I am also an experienced charity director, having led the board of a large charity for 4 years, and been a member of multiple charity boards, overseeing governance, stakeholder management, strategic oversight, compliance, HR, renumeration, accounts, and the recruitment and development of senior leaders.
