About Ryan Layton

Working in the Information and Technology career field for over 20 years now. Supporting everything from an Air Force Squadron, to Executives and manufacturing facilities. Working for Ingersoll Rand for almost 15 years now and moved from Contract to Permanent to Team Lead to Supervisor finally back to Field Service Technician. Many may see my leaving management as taking a step backwards. I don\'t, This was a Choice! I see it as I tried something new, it was not for me, and just more than anything verified that I love what I do. I love being a technician, trying to be the best Technician and Customer Service Representative for IT. I also love that I work for a company that was willing to let me take this opportunity then go back to what I love to do. Couldn\'t have asked for more understanding from the company.     I am where I believe I have always belonged. As Field Service Technician for Ingersoll Rand I continue to be ecstatic about my role as a Field Service Technician. I know that ultimately what I want is to be a part of the team, and contribute to the success of the team I work with. If you have to ask then you do not know me. It took me through Management of 5 years to ultimately realize what I absolutely love to do. It is customer Support in the IT Environment. I chose to become a Field Service Technician again, and I couldn\'t be anymore satisfied with my decision thus far. I continue to help support over 2500 Customers at multiple locations within Charlotte/NC Area. Responsible for closing of work tickets entered into a tracking database. Working in a team environment, closely working with the Area Supervisor and acting as a liaison with the team, the Area Supervisor and the customer. Understanding of new technologies and how new technology can better support the corporation as well as support the service technicians. Responsible for re-imaging of computers that cannot be fixed even after extensive troubleshooting processes were attempted. Give users access to multiple applications as well as network resources. Proficient in the understanding of wireless capability and the configurations of customers within Ingersoll Rand\'s wireless environment. Assist management in following the processes necessary to help with tracking of computers and software licenses. Installing and loading of all applications within the company and understanding how these applications inter-relate. Provide analysis to define root causes and prevent recurring issues from arising. Familiar with Active Directory, Oracle and Lotus Notes, three applications widely used; Responsible for the cleaning of computers infected with viruses and spyware problems known throughout the IT arena.
