We fight for clean energy, good jobs, and a healthier, more affordable New York. The Indigenous Solidarity Director is responsible for expanding NY Renews’ membership’s involvement in Indigenous solidarity work through campaigns and political education, recruiting new organizations to become members of NY Renews in service of this work, creating new partnerships with Indigenous-led organizations, and deepening accountability of coalition members to the Nations in NYS. PROMOTE Indigenous Policy Priorities — incorporate identified Indigenous budget & policy priorities into the overall purview of the coalition’s efforts. Ensure alignment of Indigenous priorities with other coalition priorities. ENGAGE in Direct Advocacy — organize coalition members to advance identified Indigenous campaign priorities through mobilizations and direct actions, lobbying, media work, & other identified tactics. PROVIDE Technical Assistance — inform partners about NYS government processes, like the NYS budget & legislative cycle in order to advance Indigenous priorities. Support partners in exploring Technical Assistance around funding for renewable energy infrastructure. LEAD Political Education — lead workshops that focus on how to build relationships with Indigenous People, take authentic guidance from Indigenous Peoples, organizations, and Nations & enhance understanding of Land Back from a New York Indigenous perspective.FUNDRAISING — bring in new funding streams and bolster existing fundraising to support organizing by Indigenous Peoples, including training, stipends, travel, and direct action and advocacy.
