I am a keynote speaker, Wall Street Journal and USA Today best-selling author, leadership consultant, and creator of 6th Gear Leadership. I help leaders and executive teams elevate their leadership operating system so they can navigate complexity, pressure, change, and uncertainty with greater clarity, agility, trust, and impact. The next level of leadership is not about doing more. It is about operating from a higher level. Most leadership development focuses on horizontal development: adding more knowledge, skills, tools, and techniques. That matters, but it is not enough. Horizontal development is like downloading a new app. Vertical development is different. It is like upgrading the operating system. My work helps leaders vertically develop by focusing on the most foundational aspect of their Being Side: their mindsets. When leaders elevate their mindsets, they upgrade how they interpret challenges, regulate themselves, make decisions, build trust, and create value. This is what allows leaders to shift into 6th Gear Leadership. In 5th Gear, leaders may be capable and high-performing, but they often operate at high RPMs: urgency, control, friction, overload, and short-term pressure. In 6th Gear, leaders operate with greater sophistication. They create speed with less friction. They lead with more clarity, trust, purpose, agility, and capacity. And because leadership sophistication sets the ceiling for the groups they lead, elevating the leader helps elevate the organization.
