About Ryan Thill
Howdy! I’m Ryan, a Junior Industrial Distribution major at Texas A&M University, set to graduate in May 2027. My program combines engineering, business, supply chain, data, and communication skills to prepare us for selling and distributing technical products. I’m especially drawn to outside sales in the automation space—helping companies solve real problems with cutting-edge technology. To get ready for that world, I’ve chosen extra courses in sales, robotics, engineering applications, and emerging tech that go beyond the standard curriculum. While at A&M, I’ve jumped into several organizations that keep me learning and connected. I’m active in the Professional Association for Industrial Distribution (PAID), Sigma Delta Honors Society, and Baja SAE (Society of Automotive Engineers). On the side, I started an off-campus literary and poetry analysis club that’s now grown to over 20 members and held more than half a dozen great meetings. Right now I’m also working with other students and the Industrial Distribution Engineering department to launch SEED (Society for Engineering Education & Development), a group focused on creating hands-on learning experiences for engineers. A few things I’m really proud of: I took 3rd place out of more than 220 competitors in the TIES Sales Showdown (a tough technical sales competition with 220+ competitors), co-authored the Expert Advice article “Automation 2035: Mastering the Tech Revolution – A Gen Z Guide to Industry 5.0” that the global company, RS Group, published, and led a team that redesigned and improved the website for Winston Water Cooler, a company valued at $750 million. Those experiences taught me how to blend technical know-how with clear communication and strategic thinking—exactly the skills I want to bring to a career in automation outside sales. I’m excited to help drive innovation and growth in this fast-moving industry!

Supported the Value-Added Services (VAS) team by creating AI-assisted training resources and building scalable internal knowledge infrastructure to improve sales efficiency and partner collaboration.1. Developed AI-driven technical training materials for major product lines, categories, and brands carried by RS, distilling complex technical specifications into clear, sales-ready content used by the VAS team to accelerate deal cycles and improve quote accuracy.2. Conducted validation of vendor pricing and Bill of Materials (BOM) accuracy across multiple product families, ensuring data integrity for customer proposals and internal processes.3. Designed and populated a centralized SharePoint knowledge hub to reach 15+ external partners, streamlining access to technical documentation, pricing references, and application notes to enhance partner enablement and reduce support requests.
