About Ryan Trombly

I’m an emerging leader in education policy with a passion for driving meaningful change. With expertise in written and digital communications, cross-cultural engagement, and qualitative research methods, I am committed to tackling today’s pressing educational challenges through thoughtful, informed action.I recently completed a Master of Arts in Education Policies and Global Development as part of the GLOBED Erasmus Mundus program, which included coursework at top European institutions: the Autonomous University of Barcelona, University of Bremen, and University of Cyprus. For my thesis, I chose to examine the rise of book bans in Florida public schools, an issue that speaks to my commitment to defending educational equity.Before pursuing graduate studies, I earned my undergraduate degree as part of the inaugural class at Duke Kunshan University, a joint venture located in Kunshan, China. There, I played an active role in shaping the university\'s student life culture—from founding the university newspaper to becoming a key player in the development of DKU’s student government and advocating for curriculum changes.Beyond academics, I have diverse professional experience in youth development, program management, communications, and event planning. I’ve had the privilege of contributing to various organizations in leadership capacities, including a disability advocacy NGO, a startup that tackles food insecurity, and a summer camp. These experiences have helped me hone my leadership and collaborative skills in a variety of settings.As I continue to build my career, I remain passionate about using education as a tool for social change and look forward to collaborating with others who share this vision.
