About Ryan Peterson
I lead high-stakes technical programs that drive real business impact. From orchestrating AWS migrations to unlocking $100M+ in logistics cost savings, I bring clarity to chaos and structure to scale. My career spans Amazon, ExxonMobil, and the U.S. Naval Aviation—each chapter shaped by complexity, mission-focus, and values-driven leadership. As an Amazon Technical Program Leader with almost a decade of experience delivering infrastructure, platform, and business initiatives at scale, I bring a unique blend of strategic thinking, technical fluency, and military discipline to every challenge. I am passionate about solving complex problems, aligning stakeholders, and building resilient systems that deliver business impact. My journey started in the cockpit. At 17, I earned my pilot’s license by working jobs to pay for lessons—because I believed in earning my way. That mindset carried me through combat missions in Afghanistan, where I learned to lead under fire, make fast decisions, and keep teams aligned when the stakes were life and death. In tech, I bring that same precision. Leading cross-org infrastructure transformations, building Python-based forecasting tools, and driving seven-figure AWS cost savings while governing $200M+ infrastructure portfolios. I ramp fast, ask smart questions, and carve out time weekly to stay sharp. I treat technical fluency like a workout: consistent, focused, and essential. I hold a PMP, an MBA from the University of Washington, and AWS Certified Solutions Architect credentials. I believe people aren’t resources—they’re humans. I protect time, foster trust, and lead with empathy. Whether mentoring other TPMs or briefing VPs, I anchor teams in clear objectives and drive toward outcomes that matter. What’s next? I’m ready to step into a Principal TPM role where I can shape strategy, scale impact, and grow with a mission-driven team. I care deeply about building systems and solutions that make a meaningful difference—for the business, and for the people it serves. If your team is tackling meaningful problems and values clarity, collaboration, and long-term thinking, I’d welcome the chance to connect. Experience
Senior Technical Program Manager Supply Chain Optimization Technology (Scot)
Jul 2024 — Present · Bellevue, WA, US
Led large-scale infrastructure optimization, datacenter migration, and cost governance initiatives for Amazon’s Supply Chain Optimization Technology (SCOT) platform, which underpins global inventory placement, promise, and fulfillment decision-making for Amazon Retail. Owned and executed the 2025 datacenter migration strategy for the operations organization, exceeding annual server reduction targets by 12.3% and achieving GREEN status as one of the largest and most complex migration efforts in the company. Orchestrated a final-week execution push through daily cross-organizational coordination to secure additional server release commitments while maintaining full service availability. Managed four major service domains through migration completion across optimization, promise, order fulfillment, and workflow systems, supported by comprehensive tracking frameworks to monitor server footprint and execution progress.Directed a multi-year transformation of a foundational inventory system to enable container-aware tracking across the fulfillment network, coordinating execution across multiple engineering organizations to deliver new data models and system integrations. Successfully launched pilot deployments at two sites in November 2025, meeting all success criteria including less than 0.1% discrepancy, zero performance regression, and zero operational defects. Contributed to a 2026 roadmap unlocking material cost-to-serve reductions through form-factor-aware decision-making across planning, promise, and placement systems.Owned infrastructure financial governance for SCOT, managing a $273M AWS budget in 2025 and leading eight TPMs to deliver annual objectives. Achieved a 10% efficiency outcome, outperforming targets by 500 basis points, and finished the year 6.13% under budget through sustained operational discipline. Led the 2026 planning cycle and secured executive approval for a $343M infrastructure budget to support continued platform growth and scale.
