About Ryan Midwood

I am a highly motivated marine construction professional with offshore, coastal, and inland experience. Starting in 2009 after successful completion of the commercial dive program at the Diver Institute of Technology in Seattle Washington, I went on to work in the oil and gas industry in the Gulf of Mexico. I joined Cal Dive International, starting as a deck hand and crane operator supporting dive operations. I progressed into a commercial diver position, involved in subsea projects including but not limited to hot tapping, smart flanges, valving systems, riser and spool piece installation, P&A of wells and pipeline, platform inspections, and pipe lay. Working on an array of different vessels from 4 point anchor DSV, DP vessels, anchor barges, lift boats, and oil derricks. During that time I became proficient with anchor spreads and handling, surveying equipment, sonar, and rov support. My recent work history over the last 8 years on near shore and offshore projects has been primarily with Specialty Diving Services In N. Kingstown, RI which was acquired by JF Brennan in 2020. Work experience on subsea cable projects including but not limited to, HVDC & HVAC Power Cable Installations, cable repairs, shore end and beach landing operations, direct burial operations with mass flow excavations, jet plows, diver burial, platform riser, CPS/ tekmar, and PLGRs. During my time there I became familiar with ISO, IMCA, ADCI, Coast Guard, ABS and OSHA regulations and standards. Currently employed with Caldwell Marine International working on large HVDC projects. Supporting early marine works for utility locates, PLGRs, cable burial trials and HDD support. As well supporting emergency repair works for a HVAC submarine cable repair project on the East Coast of the United States. Additional experience working with clients such as Orsted, LS Cable, NKT, Prysmian Group, LS Power, National grid, chevron, shell, and the US Navy.
