About Ryan Kawamoto
Ryan Kawamoto is the Regional Program Manager for Older Adults Technology Services (OATS) and the Chief Executive Officer for Little Hawk Comics.OATS, an award-winning non-profit based out of New York, harnesses the power of technology to change the way we age. In partnership with Avenidas, OATS has launched Senior Planet@Avenidas which is a part of the first tech-themed resource for people 60+ who are aging with attitude. Previously, as Executive Director of Yu-Ai Kai, Ryan streamlined protocols resulting in increased revenue, program attendance, and staff morale, while decreasing expenses. By rebranding the Kenko Living Series, his team increased health workshop attendance by 300%. Receiving praise for offering services to over seniors and their families annually, his team was credited with saving lives through their Neighborhood Meals on Wheels program and customized social services program. As an author and illustrator, Ryan created his own business and published his 372-page graphic novel. His work includes a health policy presentation for Asian Health Services, a community health center that serves patients a year. As a legislative aide for Majority Leader Wilma Chan and Assemblymember Mike Feuer, he analyzed over bills and staffed a successful legislative campaign generating $40 billion in Los Angeles County transit funding. Ryan holds leadership positions on the Japantown Community Congress of San Jose and the Asian Pacific Youth Leadership Project, while also serving on the Age-Friendly San Jose Advisory Council. He is the former Chair of the Aging Services Collaborative of Santa Clara County, where he also served as the Treasurer for the San Jose Okayama Sister Cities, the third oldest sister city in the country. He holds a Princeton University graduate degree and received training from Harvard Business School\'s Strategic Perspectives in Nonprofit Management and the Center for Excellence in Nonprofits\' Leaders Institute.
