ABOUT RYAN HAMMONS

Ecologist and Environmental Consultant since 2006. I have directed research to better understand the biology and ecology of the federal-endangered species, the Navasota ladies\'-tresses (Spiranthes parksii), as well as land management practices to promote its persistence and conservation. I have provided numerous surveys for wetlands, streams, other aquatic resources, waters of the United States, plant species, wildlife species, plant communities, noxious weeds, and other related environmental resources. My surveys have helped to promote conservation and/or inform development to avoid and minimize impacts. I have provided environmental permitting services for private and public sector clients across the central and western United States. My work has focused on compliance with Clean Water Act Section 404, National Environmental Policy Act, Endangered Species Act, Migratory Bird Treaty Act, Bald and Golden Eagle Protection Act, and other related state and local regulations. I have provided projects with desktop analyses, field surveys, management plans, design plans, and report/permit development. I am an active board member for the Society of Wetland Scientists Rocky Mountain Chapter, and have volunteered for the Volunteers for Outdoor Colorado and Wildland Restoration Volunteers to support ecological restoration projects. I have been a Professional Wetland Scientist since 2017. I regularly collaborate with other consultants, other researchers, undergraduate students, state agencies, university professors, non-government organizations, and federal agencies.I mentor junior- and mid-level staff on wetland delineations, Section 404 permitting, and other biological surveys/permitting. My work has served a variety of clients, including wind and solar renewable energy, public utilities, mining, railroad, department of transportation, water conservation districts, United States Department of Defense, and Department of Interior. I have worked with clients to deliver a comprehensive analysis and cost-effective approach to obtaining necessary environmental permits and ensure environmental compliance. Other services have included working with engineers and other scientists to develop ecological/wetland restoration design plans in support of compensatory mitigation, wildfire recovery, and project sustainability and resilience. In 2020, I created a small business, Hammons Services, that helps landowners to reestablish native plant species on their property.
