Geologist in the Energy & Minerals Program, focused on the geoscience, energy, and critical mineral resources of the Uinta Basin and Wasatch Plateau. Recent and ongoing projects include: 1) Outcrop and core characterization of Paleogene strata of the Wasatch Plateau and Uinta Basin (Flagstaff Formation, Wasatch-Colton Formation, and Green River Formation);2) Stratigraphic reconciliation of Green River Formation nomenclature, Uinta Basin;3) Reservoir characterization, subsurface mapping, and liquid production potential of the Mancos B of the Mancos Shale, eastern Uinta Basin and western Douglas Creek Arch, UT and CO;4) Characterization of rare earth elements (REEs) and critical minerals in Cretaceous strata of the Wasatch Plateau and Book Cliffs;5) Assessment of critical mineral concentrations in produced water, Uinta Basin (study begins fall 2023);6) Carbon capture, utilization, and storage; statewide Utah assessment (completed June 2023).
