About Ryan Berkowitz

I\'m a singer songwriter, a professional vocalist, a singing teacher, an actor (AEA member, graduate of Carnegie Mellon School of Drama, musical theater major), and a vocal impersonator. I\'m an experienced club date singer and perform with various bands, as one half of a duo, and I accompany myself on piano on solo gigs. I\'ve appeared in regional theater, off\' Broadway, in film and on TV. In LA I\'ve played The Hayworth And First and Hope Theaters, in NYC, I\'ve played Birdland, The Bitter End, The Christopher St. Coffee House, Merkin Concert Hall, and a host of other hot spots. I\'ve opened for Chris Botti, as well as for The Duprees, I\'ve starred on the Main Stage of Harrah\'s hotel and Casino, and have also been featured at Citi Field. I\'ve also been featured on New Years Eve in Times Square. My teaching philosophy goes hand in hand with my performing philosophy - never be afraid to do something big and bold, and never be afraid to fail, you can\'t grow until you fall and fail, but then, you\'ll stand taller when you rise. I teach all ages and levels, and I specialize in creating a unique and supportive environment for my students, and I tailor each lesson to each specific client. I\'m concerned not only with what I want to compose, but with what an audience wants to hear, that\'s the best barometer. My original music has been featured on WHLI 1100 AM, on WHUD 100.7 FM and on Serius radio with Jonathan Schwartz. My debut album, Not Just Another Girl, along with my co-write, You Silly Girl, and my latest single, Let There Be, can all be found on I-tunes, CD BABY, etc. As per vocal impersonations, I\'m fluent in the styles and sounds of: Marilyn Monroe, Billie Holiday, Patsy Cline, Peggy Lee, Judy Garland, Cher, Kate Hepburn, Karen Carpenter, Joni Mitchell, and am constantly adding new voices to my impersonation list

   Teaching voice and beginner piano. I work on pop/rock/music theater/Disney etc. I give private lessons, one on one. I refine students tone, placement, breathing, endurance, resonance, flexibility, range, dexterity. I hone ear training, diction and connection to the lyrics. I also teach beginner piano.
