ABOUT R. V. PAUL CHAN
I am the John H. Panton, MD Professor of Ophthalmology and the Chair of the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences at the Illinois Eye and Ear Infirmary at the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC). Prior to joining the faculty at UIC, I was a member of the faculty at Weill Cornell Medical College where I was Director of the Retina Service, Director of the Retinopathy of Prematurity Service, and Director of the Vitreoretinal Fellowship program. I have extensive experience in healthcare administration, research, and medical education, and I am an internationally recognized leader in pediatric retina care. I also lead initiatives in international program development for telemedicine and tele-education, and have established international pediatric blindness prevention programs in collaboration with numerous partners around the world.
