About Rocio V.
As a recent graduate of UC Davis with a Bachelor of Science in Animal Science, I have a passion for animal welfare and a strong foundation in animal care and behavior. I have gained valuable skills and knowledge in various fields, including aquaculture, veterinary medicine, entomology, and wildlife conservation, through my academic coursework, research internships, and volunteer activities. Currently, I work as a Public Education Officer at OC Animal Care, where I coordinate and support the foster care program for shelter pets who need additional support before being available for adoption. I am responsible for managing the daily intake and outtake of mostly feline populations, providing training and guidance to foster volunteers, partnering with the veterinary staff to ensure proper medical care, and facilitating educational, adoptions, and recruitment events. I have developed excellent communication, organization, and data entry skills, as well as a deep understanding of disease control and prevention, animal handling and safety, and adoption processes.
