ABOUT RUUD DE WILDT

I have been with GSK since 2007. I am a passionate leader and have more than 15 years experience within the Biotech and Biopharmaceutical industry. I am proud to have been leading multi disciplinary teams that have delivered > 50 Antibody projects and therapeutic molecules of which now several have progressed into clinical studies. These include GSK’s ICOS and OX-40 immuno-oncology monoclonal antibodies and also a long acting IL-5 monoclonal antibody. I am excited about GSK’s recent focus on targets in the immune system, combined with genetics and functional genomics to increase the chances to make successful medicines. Currently, I am heading up Antibody Lead Discovery in Biopharm in GSK. In this role I am responsible for all in-vitro and in-vivo Antibody Discovery and optimization processes of Biopharmaceuticals including mAbs and alternative modalities; this includes bi-specific antibodies and alternative scaffolds such as domain antibodies. I have managed teams through significant organisational changes and have successfully accessed and implemented the Adimab yeast-based platform and we also established a state-of-the-art in-vivo Antibody Discovery process using a transgenic mouse platform; these are the core Antibody Discovery platforms at GSK. Before GSK, I was Associate Director in Domantis Limited, the domain antibody company and I was responsible for the generation of key domain antibody libraries and a number of therapeutic programs. Prior to Domantis, I did a post-doc at the MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology in Cambridge UK, with Dr. Greg Winter and Dr. Ian Tomlinson to develop high-density antibody arrays and studied human antibody repertoires.
