About Ruturaj Gavaskar
I work at NVIDIA in the domain of computer vision with a focus on automotive applications, prior to which I worked at Qualcomm.Personal background:I have a Ph.D. and M. Tech. degree in Electrical Engineering from IISc Bangalore, and a Bachelors degree from BITS-Pilani. I am broadly interested in applied mathematics, including machine learning, optimization, computer vision, and data science/analytics. I am passionate about using mathematical tools to solve real-world problems.I like the theoretical as well as practical aspects of problem-solving and have worked on a variety of projects involving coding and mathematical analysis. My PhD thesis work consisted mostly of discovering and proving theorems on the analytical, algebraic and statistical properties of numerical algorithms used in computer vision. During my Master\'s, I worked on designing and implementing fast, low-complexity filters in image processing. My Master\'s thesis was awarded a gold medal by IISc. I have published 13 papers in top-tier research journals/conferences.Let\'s connect!Some of my past (research) projects:• Development of fast algorithms for image filtering.• Proving convergence of proximal algorithms in image reconstruction.• Statistical analysis of proximal algorithms for compressed sensing using concentration inequalities.• Satellite image fusion using a combination of deep learning and traditional optimization.• Designing an image denoising neural network with provably low Lipschitz constant.• Reconstruction of graph signals using denoisers.• Sports team selection using data analytics.
