About Ruth Zaplin
Dr. Ruth Zaplin is a Senior Executive-in-Residence in the American University (AU) School of Public Affairs (SPA), where she designs and teaches graduate courses in leadership, public policy implementation, organizational analysis, coaching for performance, and ethics for managers in the SPA master in public administration and in Key Executive Leadership Programs master in public administration and certificate programs. Concurrently, Dr. Zaplin is the Director of Coaching for Key Executive Leadership Programs at AU. In addition to her doctorate in public administration and master\'s in public administration, she is an International Coach Federation (ICF) certified Professional Certified Coach (PCC). She is certified as a Growth Edge Coach by Cultivating Leadership and trained and certified by Harvard University to conduct and score the Subject-Object Interview based on Robert Kegan’s theory of adult development. As a consultant, she led enterprise-wide transformation, workforce restructuring, and work redesign initiatives in the private and public sectors. Dr. Zaplin was a project director with the National Academy of Public Administration in Washington, DC, and founded the Academy’s Global Leadership Consortium. Dr. Zaplin integrates mindfulness and other contemplative disciplines into her courses and workshops and has reached hundreds of leaders across the Federal Government. She is the Founder and Principal Coach of The Zaplin Group LLC. She supports leaders in strengthening their connection to their inner resources using mindfulness and awareness, developmental coaching, and transformational leadership development practices.
