ABOUT RUTH LOWRY
I am a Chartered Sport and Exercise Psychologist, registered with the HCPC and have 15 years of teaching and research experience.My main research interest is in the area of participation in physical activity and associated psychological well-being benefits. I have previously been involved with projects that have included the use of activity monitors to increase physical activity with insufficiently active adults (community and primary care settings). Specifically, examining the role of neighbourhood environmental perceptions in physical activity. My current research projects include mapping personal social networks to explore health behaviour change, body image and exercise involvement, physical activity monitoring in specialist populations and the benefits of rock drumming with children who have additional educational needs.
