ABOUT RUSSELL BLACK

Growing up my life revolved around auto racing. I raced go karts and cars from the time I was 12 years old until I was well into my 20s. My primary crew chief \"Uncle Mark\" was a former Crew Chief for Roush Racing and was very driven to win. I also had a very competitive drive and wanted to beat everyone out there. This drive that we both had led to us holding nothing back. Before any race I would spend countless hours preparing, practicing, working out, and mentally preparing to ensure I was at my peak performance and to ensure we put all the pieces in place to be successful. A few of the things I learned over the years were races were won \"at the shop\". If the car was not perfect and ready to run, then we were going into that race already behind the pack. Another thing I learned was to be physically and mentally prepared every time I stepped into that kart or car. This meant hours in the gym 6 days a week, eating right, walking the track, and even getting in my car 20 minutes early to calm my nerves before the green flag was flying.Fast forward 19 years and I am no longer racing but I still have the same drive to win and I still strive for the same level of preparedness in my work that I put into my racing. This intrinsic drive forces me to want to be the best. As a husband and father of 2, I still make time to physically and mentally prepare for the races or battles that I face everyday. During my extended time here at Dish I have grown my professional career and leadership abilities. I started as an entry level technician and worked all the way up to tech level 4 (highest tech level). I helped to spearhead the Smart Home Solutions (Ancillary Services) when it was first launched. I had very quick success and the first year I was one of the top 12 techs in the nation for sales. A few years later I was promoted to field service manager, stayed in that role for just over 7 years. During my time as a FSM I took on additional roles such as IOT club member, DishCARES liaison for the Ann Arbor office, and Google ambassador. From there I took on the opportunity to join our HR team 5 years ago, and now I am working as a Senior HR Manager supporting the People Operations Team.I am self driven, extremely organized, disciplined, but humble a leader and I strive to be the best at everything I do.
