About Russell Bingham
Back to work after some time off! Working on full-stack robotics engineering for Ultra, where we\'re deploying robotics foundation models in a customer-first way-I\'m an expert in novel robotics development and green-field product development, including both public and private fundraising. I was Lead Robotics Engineer and eventually Head of Product for Pliant Energy\'s C-Ray program from 20••••24, where we built the first two units of the world\'s only subsea-swimming amphibious robot for the Office of Naval Research. By 2025, that work led to >$10M in follow-on R&D funding, two negotiated data delivery pilots, and a clear dual-use commercialization roadmap. My background is in small-team maritime field ops and novel operational capabilities - I\'ve published papers in JFR, ICRA (forthcoming), and VISIGRAPP on AUV autonomy for data collection, and I\'ve been working on robotic shipwreck archaeology since 2018, including helping to locate the HMS Urge in 2019. My degrees are in electrical and computer engineering (M.Eng.\'21, Cornell Tech) and general engineering with a focus on robotics and controls (B.S.\'20, Harvey Mudd).
