About Russell Stamper
I learned the Masonry trade and worked both union and non union job in the mid 1970’s. I began contracting small commercial and multifamily residential buildings in the Phoenix, Az area. I also did union work in Odessa and Midland Texas around this time. About 1980 I relocated to Springfield, Missouri and after a few years of union work began operating as a residential Masonry Contractor. In 1989 I shifted gears and went to work as a Traveling Superintendent for a Nationwide Builder. Over the next 9 years I attended the building of numerous midsize retail locations all over the United States. At this time the responsibilities included finding bidders and selecting the subs for contract, some of the final permitting duties, and being sure that all detail were covered. Then we would get the project completed and hand over the keys, start to finish, in 90 days. Bonus was available for being on time and on budget. I was successful on every project I did. A number of times my assignment included two, or even three projects simultaneously. I was on time, on budget every time. I did the same job for a few other general Contracting Companies, building restaurants and medical facilities. In 2001 I left being a superintendent to start my own masonry contracting company. I became a major Masonry Contractor in North East Florida and in 2006 became a certified General Contractor as well. In 2009 the economy changed dramatically and I chose to downsize and returned to Missouri. From then to 2019 I did a number of small projects and also enjoyed some periods of semiretirement. In 2019 I chose to return to project management and started as a superintendent again. I am still doing superintendent work today.
