I’m a recent MSc Robotics (2:1) graduate from the University of Sheffield with a hands-on foundation in mechanical design, CAD, and manufacturing and a real appetite for turning ideas into reliable hardware. I’m now exploring Graduate roles in Design Engineering, CAD Technician, Manufacturing Engineer, Robotics Engineer, or Mechanical Engineer.How it started: In my second year of B.E. Mechanical, a basic CAD lab changed everything. Watching a rough sketch become a fully constrained model and then a drawing with tolerances that someone could actually build hooked me. I started volunteering for every industry-sponsored project I could get: redesigning brackets for lighter assemblies, cleaning up tolerance stacks, and learning why a “pretty” model still fails if the BOM, GD & T, and manufacturing plan aren’t tight.How it grew: That momentum carried into a year at Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL). On the shop floor and in design reviews, I learned to move fast and be exact: building SolidWorks models and AutoCAD drawings for defence-grade equipment (e.g, telescopic masts and shelter components), generating BOMs/SOPs, coordinating with vendors, and supporting builds when things didn’t fit first time. It’s where I picked up practical judgmen DFM/DFA, tolerance-driven fixes, change control, and working shoulder-to-shoulder with production.Where it’s going: At Sheffield, I deepened the engineering toolkit Fusion 360/ANSYS for FEA, Python/MATLAB for analysis and explored a dissertation on mechanical metamaterials for deployable UAV structures. That work sharpened my interest in lightweight, robust mechanisms and how geometry can do more than mass ever could.What I bring:Strong 3D CAD (SolidWorks, Fusion 360)+ manufacturing drawings with GD & TFEA basics (linear/nonlinear workflows, hand-checks) and design iterationBuild support mindset—BOMs, SOPs, vendor liaison, and quick, clean revisionsExposure to SAP (MM/PP/WM) and cross-functional collaborationI’m motivated by clear requirements, clean models, and seeing hardware ship.
