About Ruoming Jin
I’m a Professor of Computer Science at Kent State University, working at the intersection of artificial intelligence, brain science, and data-driven public health. While not a neurologist or psychologist, I collaborate closely with biologists, neuroscientists, psychologists, and mental health researchers to explore how AI can decode mental states, monitor brain health, and enhance human well-being.My research bridges large language models (LLMs), deep learning, graph databases, and computational neuroscience, aiming to translate cutting-edge machine learning into tools that make a real-world impact.I’ve published nearly 200 papers in top-tier venues such as NeurIPS, ICML, SIGKDD, SIGMOD, and VLDB, translating foundational research into real-world impact—from scalable graph analytics to AI systems for mental health prediction and prevention. My work has received over $6 million in funding from NSF, NIH, SAMHSA, and industry partners. I’ve been recognized with the 2025 KSU President’s Faculty Excellence Award, the NSF CAREER Award, and the Outstanding Research and Scholarship Award (2021). I’m ranked among the world’s top 2% of scientists (Stanford, since 2023), and have earned multiple best and outstanding paper awards.Beyond academia, I co-founded GraphSQL (now TigerGraph) and served as founding CTO (2012–2016)—helping design the core graph engine, land the first 20+ enterprise customers, and raise $30M+ in Series A funding.Currently, I am a cofounder of iLambda, where we’re building generative AI solutions for e-commerce, fashion & apparel industry, and digital twin chatbots (Personalive/PersonaChat). With Prof. NhatHai Phan (NJIT), I’m also helping to commercialize privacy-preserving code generation and conversational AI.I hold 10+ patents in graph database and LLM/ML technologies, reflecting my commitment to advancing both research excellence and real-world innovation.
