ABOUT RUMINA SORATHIA-LUY

As a Clinical Supervisor with Recovery Alberta and a Registered Psychiatric Nurse (RPN), I bring over 23 years of experience in the mental health field, including 13 years of specialization in therapy and counselling. With a Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology, I combine academic knowledge with extensive clinical experience to lead, mentor, and support mental health professionals in delivering high-quality, client-centred care. My therapeutic expertise includes Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), and Mindfulness-based approaches. With a strong focus on trauma-informed care, I tailor interventions to address the complex needs of individuals and groups, fostering resilience, healing, and meaningful change. Beyond direct clinical work, I provide leadership in program development, quality improvement, and systems-level processes. This includes supervising treatment planning, care conferences, and mandated reviews to ensure best practices and continuity of care. I am passionate about advancing mental health services through reflective supervision, evidence-based approaches, and creating environments where both clients and clinicians can thrive.
