Designing next-generation decoders for intracortical brain computer interfaces for people with paraplegia to restore motion and communication. Exploring how neural representations of cursor movement change under different spatial context. Employing deep learning to learn the latent representations of neural activities of cursor movement under different geometric contexts. Integrating differential geometry and manifold theory to extract the neural latent manifold to learn neural population dynamics and the underlying geometric and topological structure of neural activities, in order to build more robust decoders which could handle multiple contexts of movement. Studying neural representation invariance from the perspective of topology to learn a universal manifold which captures essential motion patterns across days and participantsPI: Leigh Hochberg
