About Ruby Menon

I have been blessed with a curious mind and a love of learning. These qualities have shaped who I am today and where my multi-hyphenate career path has taken me.As a certified Salesforce Business Analyst, I have certifications for the Salesforce Certified Administrator and Applied Certification in Business Analysis (ACBA). I am also the group leader for the Honolulu Nonprofit Salesforce User Group. I work with small to medium nonprofits to help end users transition from spreadsheets to Salesforce for effective data management. I believe successful implementations are a result of understanding the people who will be using the technology. I view my role as a translator between the product owners, users, and the technical team. To strengthen user adoption, I work closely with end users to document business processes and help them translate how their workflows will be impacted by a technology implementation. With the technical team, I clarify business requirements so they can build the right Salesforce solution. In business analysis, we measure twice, cut once. I bring my knowledge to nonprofits from a diverse career path in technology, healthcare, and non-profit industries with skills including Business process analysis, Project management, Product management, and Behavior design. My other interests:I have been fascinated by how people behave and make decisions. This interest led me to the work of Dr. BJ Fogg, a Stanford professor and Behavior Scientist. I am a graduate of his Behavior Design Bootcamp. My current side interests are focused on social impact Workforce Innovation and Future of Work projects:* Past Host of Work Re>Imagined, a ThinkTech Hawaii production focused on the Future of Work * Program Consultant: WorkNet Correctional Arts Re-Entry (CARE) Project for Incarcerated Artists * Project Manager/Consultant: Digital Transitions Program for Incarcerated Women

LifeStiles® is a social enterprise project that aligns my passion for helping people match their interests and motivation with job skills training and employment opportunities. My partner and I designed the LifeStiles® Vocational and Individual Development Plan Profile, an online profile that is specifically designed for clients that are transitioning from prison to the community. Each client receives an Individual Development Plan that is used for transition case management. The profile is currently being beta tested in the Hawaii Public Safety corrections system with work furlough inmates. As the LifeStiles® product manager, my responsibilities included managing a remote developer to create the web based version of the profile, agile project management, product development, QA testing, UI design, and translating user requirements into product features. Through contracts with Hawaii Public Safety and a public-private partnership with Hawaii Correctional Industries, we are field testing the online version and continue to evolve the product as we get more user feedback. Responsibilities include:• Managed product development strategy for the LifeStiles® Career Planner• Interacted closely with clients and case management practitioners using the product to gather user feedback.• Managed software engineer and translate user feedback into value added product design.• Conducted Lean Startup practices (build, measure, learn), tested features with users to continuously evolve product design.• Managed website development, marketing, social media, and grant writing projects.• Researched and implemented social enterprise projects to provide job skills training and employment opportunities for clients transitioning from prison into the community.
