ABOUT RUBY KOSEWICZ-STRICKLAND
I am an incoming student in the University of Pennsylvania\'s Education, Culture, and Society PhD program. I center my studies and research endeavors around the formation of urban youth place-based identity through schooling. I am particularly interested in the built environment’s influence on institutionalized inequality, urban youth experience, and the pursuit of equitable access to education for all, and thus situate myself at the intersection between planning, policy, and educational access. Currently, I am especially intrigued by the convergence of housing policy and school access. I am a recent graduate of UC Berkeley\'s Master\'s of City Planning program in the College of Environmental Design. I completed a dual concentration in Housing, Community, and Economic Development (HCED) and Environmental Planning and Healthy Cities (EPHC), with a Graduate Certificate in Teaching and Learning in Higher Education. In my three years of undergrad at UC Berkeley, I laid the foundation for these pursuits in completing my B.A. in Urban Studies with minors in Education, Geography, and Sustainable Design.
