About Ruby Thompson

Born-and-raised on the Oregon Coast, I have a knack for small communities, which is why I chose to attend Willamette University. My time at Willamette truly feels defined by my student-athlete experience. Coming from a family of athletes, it is so rewarding to be a part of a college team and succeed alongside of my teammates. I also feel that my time as a student is defined by the Ford family Foundation. My experience and educational career would not have been possible without I have been so privileged to not only be an Undergraduate Ford Scholar, but also a Graduate Ford Scholar. It has been such a blessing to learn and focus on what really matters- and I am forever grateful for them. Outside of a professional setting I love to scrapbook, hang out with friends and family, read, play tennis, golf, play board games, rehearse, among many other things. I have played flute for 12 years and have been lucky enough to perform at Carnegie Hall- such a surreal experience. And like everyone my age, I love to explore new places and travel, with my most recent international trip to Athens, Greece with Willamette University\'s Department of Archeology. Finally, I also do photography and even opened a business in 2019, doing discounted senior photographs for students. I am a memory keeper myself, and love to provide that for others. As a professional, I prefer a workspace that is collaborative and relies on communication. I do my best work when I have someone to bounce ideas off of and work towards a mutual goal.

Experience

  1. New Product Introduction Narrative Lead

    HP

Feb 2026 — Present · Vancouver, WA, US

As a product storyteller/narrative lead, I define and scale the “why” behind new and existing products, helping teams move beyond feature marketing to clearly communicate why a product matters to our customers. In this role, I uncover the moments our products serve and translate them into compelling narratives, videos, and visual assets that support new product introductions, install‑base engagement, portfolio hand‑offs, and go‑to‑market messaging. My work ensures that from launch through lifecycle, product stories stay clear, consistent, and grounded in real customer outcomes.I partner closely with product management, UX, engineering, sales, and marketing teams to develop user‑centered stories and “day in the life” narratives, create resonant videos, infographics, and story‑driven decks, translate complex product capabilities into simple, meaningful value, adapt core product narratives for channel partners, account sales, and social media, and preserve the product’s story as it scales across regions and lifecycle stages
