About Ruby Haack
In May of 2024 I graduated from Sarah Lawrence College with a BA in postcolonial literature and nonfiction writing, and with a special focus in food studies and Spanish. I am now working as an editor and organizer, pursuing a career in bookmaking and development.Throughout my time at Sarah Lawrence, I served as an Editor-in-Chief for Love and Squalor, a Sarah Lawrence-based literary magazine; a reader for Variant Literature; an editorial intern for Minnesota Prison Writing Workshop (MPWW); a Centenary intern at PEN America\'s Prison and Justice Writing program (PJW); and an editorial intern for BOMB Magazine. For MPWW, I served as the assistant editor for American Precariat: A Parable of Exclusions, that was published with Coffee House Press on November 15th, 2023. With PEN PJW, I served as the editor of Thank the Bloom: 2023 Prison Writing Awards, an annual anthology that publishes non-fiction, poetry, fiction, and drama written by writers who are incarcerated.Relevant undergraduate research projects include-\"Thrown into the Sea Like Rejected Bananas\": Magical Realism as History in One Hundred Years of Solitude- Agroecology and the Repeasantization of Global and Local Food Systems - Education within Urban Agriculture: Creating Spaces for Black Liberation -\"The Masterpiece of a Maggot\": Gender, Class, and the \'Metabolic Rift\' in Josephine Johnsons’s Now in November-\"Who’s We?\": Collectivization and Citizenship in The Grapes of Wrath and Whose Names are Unknown.
