About Ruby Friedman
I’m a current Junior at Wesleyan University pursuing a double major in Computer Science and Mathematics (GPA: 4.10/4.00), with a passion for the intersection of technology and law — particularly in the area of digital privacy. My goal is to leverage my technical background to inform and strengthen legal and policy frameworks in the digital age.Over this past summer and continuing into the present, I worked as a Research Assistant in Wesleyan’s Privacy Tech Lab, analyzing website compliance with Global Privacy Control (GPC) signals across Connecticut, California, and Colorado. I developed Python Colabs to process compliance datasets submitted to the Offices of the Attorneys General in all three states, and I am currently building an interactive UI to track and visualize compliance trends over time. This work has given me direct experience in connecting data analysis and programming with real-world legal enforcement, and I am continuing this research throughout the academic year.Alongside research, I have served as a Course Assistant/Teaching Assistant for several core courses in mathematics and computer science — including Computer Science I & II and Vectors and Matrices. I currently work as a Math Workshop Tutor and a Discrete Mathematics Teacher\'s Assistant. I host review sessions, support students with course material, and provide detailed feedback on assignments. These roles have strengthened my communication skills and ability to break down complex concepts.I also bring leadership and organizational experience from serving as an officer of CodeWes, Wesleyan’s coding club, where I helped organize hackathons and design sponsorship decks for WesHack, as well as from founding StuyTutors in High School, a tutoring venture supporting NYC students preparing for the SHSAT.I’m excited to continue building at the crossroads of computer science and law, and to pursue opportunities where I can contribute to advancing digital rights and privacy protections through both technical expertise and policy insight. Technical Skills: Python, Java, C++, SML, React, React Native, PHP, SQL, HTML/CSS, JavaScript Academic Interests: Computer Networks, Software Engineering, Graph Theory, Digital Privacy, Law & Technology
