ABOUT MANTHOS TSOTSOS

Chartered Principal Process Engineer (Associate Director of Process) specialised in Wastewater Treatment Works (WwTW) process design. He has been actively involved in Energy Neutrality (EN) optimisation studies, Research & Development (R&D), water treatment works audits via Drinking Water Safety Plans (DWSP); and scope preparation, supervision and co-ordination of pilot trials studies and flow and load surveys.The clients he has worked for include United Utilities (UU), Scottish Water Solution (SWS), Scottish Water, Southern Water (SW) and York-shire Water Services (YWS). He is a keen observer of Operational practices and technologies from Continental Europe and the United States (US).In the last 24 years he has carried out the feasibility study and / or detailed process design of approximately 85-90 water and wastewater treatment works - excluding tendered works). He has a good knowledge of Professional Design Tools including the Jacobs Pro2D and the IWA Activated sludge model.He has assisted in Process Commissioning during the AMP 6 C2V+ Project and worked as a Process Com-missioning Engineer when he commissioned approximately 10 WwTW during the Southern Water AMP 3 Project (20••••05). In summary, he has operated in a design and build environment that allowed him to adopt a realistic approach towards developing best practice solutions while balancing project needs, technology selection, process risk, capital budget limitations and Whole Life Cost (WLC).
