I currently lead water and wastewater treatment for Stantec’s Water Business Line. I am a Senior Vice President with over 30 years of experience in municipal and industrial treatment, including process evaluation and design, project management, facility planning and optimization, pilot testing, operators training, and contract administration. My specific areas of expertise include treatment processes for metals, phosphorus, and nitrogen (including nitrate and nitrite) removal. I also offer significant expertise in biological nutrient removal design having completed over 30 related projects. I have published numerous papers on biological nutrient removal, specifically nitrogen removal, and remain active in ongoing research and development in wastewater engineering. I am currently on faculty at the University of British Columbia as an Adjunct Professor in the Civil Engineering Department and a Visiting Scholar at John Hopkins University in the School of Public Health. My activities include membership in the North American Metals Council\'s Selenium Working Group: an industry group focused on the impacts of selenium management and treatment regulations on the mining, power, and oil and gas industries. My personal and professional interests include urban agriculture, vertical farming, aquaculture, and aquaponics.
