Batala New York is an all-women Afro-Brazilian music band that is part of the family of Batala bands, a worldwide project promoting and sharing Afro-Brazilian percussion specifically samba-reggae which originates from Salvador da Bahia, Brazil. As the Board President of this organization I perform the following duties: • Lead the strategic direction and governance of Batalá New York, an all-women percussion ensemble. • Oversee essential committees, ensuring alignment with organizational goals through monthly meetings. • Collaboratively create operational policies and select musical directors to enhance performance quality. • Foster community partnerships and raise cultural awareness through high-energy Afro-Brazilian music and dance.
