ABOUT ROZ YOUNG

I trained as a nurse in Manchester 1988 and my first jobs were in theatres and in Emergency Care. After getting married in \'93 my husband and I went to work in Newzealand, the Cook Islands and travelled for almost three Yrs. On returning to the UK I worked in emergency and urgent care then moved into Practice Development, developing and introducing training, leadership and skills programs for multi professional teams. I worked with an international colloquium and co-authored a chapter of a book relating to Practice Development Theory and gained an MSc in Health and Practice Education. Between 2005 and 2009 I worked in senior roles in Emergency Care, Cardiac and Renal where Ied significant change programs in emergency pathway, patient safety initiatives and managed a new service introduction from a staffing, equipment and commissioning perspective. I lectured at universities on MSc programs in Health and Leadership across the Midlands. My core subjects relate to change management in complex environments, developing vision for change and political awareness for professionals and more recents quality improvement. I moved into Clinical Governance Lead, responsible for developing and implementing organisation wide systems to enable the Trust to demonstrate compliance and assurance. I was responsible for leading CQC registration and inspections from them, NHSLA, HSE etc. I worked in partnership with both Medical and Nursing Director in this role. I have 15 years experience in senior Nursing, AHP leadership roles as DDoN. I have led strategy development and implementation, serious incidents, complaints, PALS, safeguarding, clinical governance, compliance with quality and safety and led Board Development sessions relating to organisational risk. I have expertise in improvement methods and can lead change that improves patient experience and safety. I am proud to be a nurse and work for the NHS.
