As a kid, I set my sights on becoming A doctor? A teacher? An Engineer? An e-Learning instructional designer (ID) doing corporate training? Yeah, probably not that last one. How did I get here? Well, I demonstrated aptitude. I worked as part of sales team of a reputed insurance company, recruiting agents and helping them understand the benefit of the life insurance products and position them as per the need of the customer.Because I’d could explain it really well to all of the agents. Voila! A classroom trainer was born. From there I went to another “life insurance” company that hired me as an Branch Training Manager. And because I could string sentences together in a coherent way – and because I thought it was pretty much fun – I started creating one pagers to position life insurance products. I had never heard of an instructional designer till the time I was hired by another life insurance company and the key role was to create training content specially for Tele Marketing Executive (TME) to increase the productivity. So there I was – an instructional designer, almost by accident. I might have found my way into this field by accident, however by practising various Instructional design models specially The Kirkpatrick Model with great passion,I qualified for IMPACT 2010 (All India Trainer Meet at Goa) for increasing Met/TME/Day from 1.5 to 3.5 and 4.3 in DCS & Affinity respectively.This was the first module where I reached the Level 4 of The Kirkpatrick Model. And 8-years later, I have moved closer towards achieving the Level 5 (ROI) by synchronising Lean Six Sigma tools with the Kirkpatrick Model and other ID models
