   My role is to maximize the generation assets and transmission assets of AECI while also supporting the reliability of energy deliveries to the AECI member owners acting as our own Balancing Authority (BA).Being on the team of hourly marketers any particular action and/or decision will affect the entire team’s performance. It also requires me to assume the role of Energy Management Specialist (Day Ahead Power Marketer) as needed for staff coverage. The primary interfacing done in this position is with external counterparts, Regional Transmission Organizations (RTO), and AECI System Operations.Primary Activities include but not limited to;1. Buying power to cover short positions, & sell power to cover long positions, while increasing margins. a) Maintain contact with counterparties to understand the market. b) Monitor market variances in price, volume, congestion, etc. to quickly develop strategies to capitalize on variances. c) Manage day ahead position in order to maximize market position within RTOs.2. Develop a load forecast for the next trading hour and the remainder of the day.3. Coordinate with System Operators on forecasted load, schedule change and reliability requirements for the next trading hour.4. Dispatch power resources in the most economical fashion.5. Determine gas usage estimates and follow the proper notification procedures for AECI’s gas assets on the hourly desk.6. Purchase transmission for hourly power purchases and sales. a) Tag or adjust tags for hourly or day ahead power transactions. b) Monitor transmission congestion, developing strategies to cope with uncertainty in power curtailments.7. Support and proactively defend the North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) CPS and BAAL standards.8. Support the AECI Accounting and Finance Credit Limitation.9. Support and adhere to AECI risk management guidelines and procedures. Maintain the reliability and financial well-being of AECI’s member load.
