Learning Program Manager @Northwest Public Power Association

View department →

Vancouver, WA, US

I manage learning programs for association members in a variety of roles including leadership, customer and energy service, IT, and general education. This includes all aspects of in-person and virtual learning, including needs analysis, budget planning and management, pricing, event facilitation, marketing, negotiation, contracts, BEOs, purchasing and payments, as well as evaluation design and analysis. With my knowledge of video and building virtual learning programs at scale, I played an instrumental role in helping the organization rapidly pivot to virtual learning when the pandemic lock-down occurred. I worked with our instructors, platform providers, and emerging technology to create effective online learning programs and trained and supported my colleagues in this endeavor. During this time, I supported our largest annual conferences, allowing them to continue in a virtual environment. Likewise, as we transitioned back to offering more in-person events, I used my classroom facilitation expertise to help our organization and members transition to a hybrid environment. We continue to offer virtual and in-person regional events. In this role, I have introduced important concepts to the organization that had not been previously utilized, including learning paths, the importance of acquiring an LMS for tracking, certifications, monetizing learning on demand content, offering hybrid learning experiences, and blended learning approaches. I also developed an onboarding program that has strong enrollment from our members with an ongoing need to help their new employees ramp up in the unique world of public power utilities.

ABOUT ROY CEVALLOS

From end-to-end video production to in-classroom and virtual training facilitation, I have experience and success across a variety of L&D functions. Known as a creative problem solver and collaborator, my teammates and leaders often ask me to help brainstorm or consult on projects. I frequently lead highly visible and impactful projects and have received several recognition awards and nominations. One of my most impactful achievements is the creation of a library of hundreds of learning videos with tens of thousands of views. I conceptualized the program and built it out by learning all aspects of video production, which enhanced our blended learning offerings and allowed for cost effective learning distribution at a global scale. To see a short video showcasing some of my video skills, please watch the video below. I have a passion for helping people develop their skills, both on my own team and the many audiences we support. It is incredibly rewarding to play even a small role in helping people learn new skills or enhance existing ones and see them enjoy their jobs more and produce meaningful work by applying these skills. I enjoy connecting with people and have been recognized as a relationship builder. Communication is key and I am comfortable communicating with all people, from CEOs to engineers, peers to customers. I do this globally, with extensive experience leading projects in APAC and LATAM. Selected recent statements from recommendations: “Roy also is a master at using technology and video on the job. He quickly emerged as our video expert, both filming and editing. We relied on him countless times to produce video that continually exceeded my expectations and elevated the credibility of our entire team.” -Michael Hyatt-Evenson, Head of Sales Learning & Development, Verizon Media “As a colleague, Roy is such a joy to be around, he genuinely cares about your experiences, personally and professionally, and is always there to lend a hand or provide a suggestion to resolve an issue or review an important communication before it is shipped.” -Sasha Olson, Learning Program Manager, Verizon Media “His ability to successfully build relationships cross-culturally exponentially increased the value of our team to the organizations we support.” -Sierra Odom, Learning Program Manager, Verizon Media
