About Roy Streit
Research interests include multi-target tracking, multi-sensor data fusion, distributed autonomous systems, applications of analytic combinatorics, signal processing, medical imaging, and pharmacovigilance. He is a Life Fellow of the Institute for Electrical and Electronic Engineers He coauthored the book _Analytic Combinatorics for Multiple Object Tracking_, Springer, 2021. He is the author of the book _Poisson Point Processes: Imaging, Tracking, and Sensing_, Springer, 2010. It was translated into Chinese and published by Science Press, Beijing, 2013. He is a co-author of the book _Bayesian Multiple Target Tracking_, 2nd Edition, Artech House, 2014. He has published numerous technical papers in refereed journals and given many invited and contributed papers at international conferences and workshops. He holds nine US patents. He was on the Board of Governors of the Aerospace and Electronics Society 20••••21. He was General Co-Chair of the International Society for Information Fusion (ISIF.org) conference held in Istanbul, July, 2013. He was President of ISIF for 2012 and serving on its Board of Directors for many years. He is the founding Editor-in-Chief of the ISIF Perspectives Magazine. He is an Affiliate Consultant with SUCCEED Educational Consultancy based in Rhode to joining Metron in 2005, he was a Chief Scientist in the Senior Executive Service (SES) at the Naval Undersea Warfare Center, Newport, RI, working on the development, evaluation and application of multi-sensor data fusion algorithms for submarine sonar and combat control automation. He served on the Sonar Technology Panel (Panel 9) of The Technical Cooperation Program (TTCP), an international governmental organization for scientific information exchange between member nations (US, UK, Australia, Canada, New Zealand), 19••••05. He was an Exchange Scientist at the Defence Science and Technology Organisation (DSTO) in Adelaide, Australia, 1987-89. He was a Visiting Scientist at Yale University from 1982 to 1984, and a Visiting Scholar at Stanford University from 1981 to 1982.

I conduct research in multi-target tracking, data fusion, distributed autonomous systems, and signal processing and, when proprietary concerns permit, I document novel aspects of the work in the open literature in refereed technical journals. For example, I discovered connections between intensity filters and clinically established medical imaging algorithms for PET (positron emission tomography) and SPECT (single photon emission computed tomography). Related research has included multi-static sonar tracking, a multi-frame multitarget tracking algorithm for the Ballistic Missile Defence (BMD) program, a likelihood function decomposition method for tracking with heterogeneous sensors, and the use of support vector machines and machine learning methods to discriminate lethal and non-lethal objects for BMD. An especially interesting effort involved “safety signal” detection in pharmacovigilance and business analytics for a Fortune 500 pharmaceutical company using cross-functional data from spontaneous reporting systems.
