ABOUT ROY STANFORD
I am Roy Stanford, I am a native Texan. I enjoy helping others and do that though a collaborative style. I have spent time in education and research, moved into fundraising for a non profits and now I help individuals and families and companies in several ways. It all revolves around helping them navigate forward in their journey of life. What brought me here is, I had three kids when I was young and wanted to provide a good life for them. Education was important to me because I was the first person in my family to attend college. I felt that a good education was essential in preparing me to take care of my family. I received a very good education at Stephen F Austin State University and Texas A&M University. I have had some great opportunities though out life and had several people who really impacted me and encouraged me. I think that is the origin of me believing that helping others is a pretty special way of living life. My career has taken quite a few curves but has always been rewarding. I started in the Texas A&m University System doing research and adult education for wo decades. About 10 years ago I transitioned into fundraising for non-profits and my job had me visiting with really good people who would give of their hard earned money for charity. I had many great conversations, that was special times. I helped families invest in causes close to their hearts. Since Covid, I have pivoted and have a portfolio of business efforts to help others. One of those I am very excited about is REF, Late in 2022 I was exposed to REF and wanted to learn more and here we are. I am starting my own Peer Forum of financial executives. I am excited about the opportunity REF can bring to our community. There is a strong history for REF going back 30 years, and most exciting is the growth and investment that is occurring since 2020. The peer forum is unlike anything I have experienced before.
