Since July of 2022, I have taken on the role of EVP and CMO at Eikon Therapeutics. Eikon Therapeutics seeks to discover and develop innovative medicines using a discovery platform based upon the Nobel prize winning work of Dr Eric Betzig in the field of super-resolution microscopy. Before that for nearly a decade I was SVP and Head of Global Clinical Development and CMO at Merck. As Senior Vice President, Head Global Clinical Development and Chief Medical Officer at Merck Research Laboratories, I was responsible for oversight of Merck’s world-wide clinical development enterprise including clinical research, clinical trial operations, biostatistics and research decision sciences, and medical affairs. I also had responsibility for MSD KK R and D and for MSD China R and D. Before Merck, I served as the Senior Vice President of Oncology, Inflammation and Respiratory Therapeutics at Gilead Sciences and prior to that was Vice President Global Clinical Development and Therapeutic Area (TA) Head for Hematology / Oncology, at Amgen Inc. I’m also a long standing member of the American Society of Hematology (ASH) and the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO). Prior to that I was Professor of Medicine, Professor of Oncology and the Charles Martin Professor of Cancer Research at Wayne State University and the Barbara Ann Karmanos Cancer Center, an NCI designated comprehensive cancer center. The bulk of my career and experience lies in internal medicine, hematology-oncology-and stem cell transplantation fields, including drug development, basic research, clinical practice, clinical research, teaching and administration. I am on the Board of Directors of Travere Inc, Natera Inc, CatalYm GmbH, Aardvark Therapeutics Inc, Nurix Inc, Adcendo ApS, and an advisor to Decheng Capital.
