ABOUT ROWANNE FLECK
I am a user (UX) researcher, specialising in future energy systems and services. My research involves conducting qualitative and quantitative studies to understand how people use new and emerging technologies in real world settings in order to reveal and design for the future. Current projects include developing consumer based DSR (energy demand side response) solutions, developing smart-technology solutions for monitoring and improving the energy efficiency of small and medium sized businesses, and raising awareness of the needs of vulnerable consumers as we push towards future energy systems and services to get us to Net Zero Carbon emissions. I have over 20 years of experience working as a user research professional and academic in the space of human computer interaction and human-centred design. Research approaches and interests include exploring ways of helping individuals make sense of personal and big data through sharing and discussion. In the past this has included looking at personal informatics tools to promote reflection and behaviour change, understanding the impacts of mobile digital technologies on work-life balance, and improving the efficiency of buildings. Another strand of my research looks at children\'s collaboration around sharable technologies.Areas of expertise: personal informatics, human-data interaction, technology support of reflection, human centred design, behaviour change, technology work-life balance, child-computer interaction, energy systems and services.All my views are my own.
