Rowan, originally from South Africa, fell into advertising by chance. Shortly after earning a marketing degree and working in the field for a few years, he applied for a position at the renowned advertising agency, Ogilvy Cape Town. He secured the role and embarked on a career that eventually led him to join m5, Atlantic Canada’s largest independent agency group.At Ogilvy Cape Town, he led and managed full-service teams working on two of South Africa’s top financial brands, Old Mutual and Allan Gray. He also led the team working on Hyundai at the creative hot-shop, The Jupiter Drawing Room. Later, he moved to Toronto to head the local specialist team at EightBar, which included Ogilvy and Mindshare, working on IBM Canada.In 2020, he briefly returned to Johannesburg to lead a team of sponsorship and event specialists at Levergy, M&C Saatchi Sports & Entertainment. Ultimately, he and his family decided to settle in Canada, arriving in Halifax at the end of 2023.With over 20 years of experience in the industry, his passion and dedication to his work have remained unwavering. He still firmly believes that human creativity has the power for enormous change, so if campaigns don’t provoke a reaction or result, why bother?When not working, he explores Canada and the world with his wife and two sons. You’ll likely find him running roads and trails in and around Halifax.
