About Roushan Singh
I am a Ph.D. candidate in Chemistry at the University of Illinois Chicago with a strong foundation in organometallic synthesis, heterogeneous catalysis, and air/moisture-sensitive materials. My research centers on developing novel, scalable precursors using earth-abundant metals like aluminum and iron, with applications in catalysis, sustainable hydrogen production, and carbon dioxide activation. Through hands-on experience with glovebox and Schlenk-line techniques, analytical instrumentation (GC-MS, FTIR, NMR, EPR), and DFT-based mechanistic modeling, I’ve built a deep understanding of translating bench-scale discovery into real-world chemical solutions. Feel free to connect with me at r•••••••@uic.edu.
Experience
Internship in Polymer Science at Material Science Division with Dr Wei Chen
Jun 2025 — Present · Lemont, IL, US
Conducted X-ray and rheological analyses of self-healing and thixotropic gel systems to evaluate structural recovery and viscoelastic behavior.Developed reprocessable composite materials by incorporating functionalized inorganic substrates; evaluated the effect of functionalization on mechanical strength and thermal reprocessability.
