Spearheaded and achieved successful outcomes on a multi-prong turnaround effort for a distressed multi-tenant SaaS asset; responsible for overseeing over $40m in yearly expenses and nearly $100m in revenue. Implemented DORA metrics for engineering, reduced incident MTTR by 75%, lead time for changes by 39%, and achieved platform uptime of over 99.9% monthly, exceeding SLA for the first time in several years. Achieved a positive rNPS (was negative), a five-year low on customer escalations, and meeting customer retention targets. Built observability, alerting, and auto-paging into all critical components, resulting in a significant decrease in customer-facing external incidents and an increase in internally detected incidents mitigated before SLA breaches while also building tooling to provide Support with more self-service capabilities. Owned product portfolio financial health and drove the effort to produce an accurate P&L, coordinating line-item level validation, and managing expenses, resulting in profitable and sustainable financials. Successfully conducted major re-architecture projects in parallel when platform volume nearly doubled to 3b messages per month during Covid, causing significant scalability and reliability challenges. Managed data center operations, incident management, DBAs, SREs, Network Ops, and application engineering, including >90PB of storage,>100 racks of hardware,>500 physical VMs, multiple internet circuits, and over 7m lines of production code. Responsible for massive SQL Server footprint with over 1.6PB of data and tables with >130B records. Embraced hybrid cloud with AWS where financially and operationally appropriate. Implemented aggressive performance management strategy, transitioned out under-performers (~30% of the original team), raised benchmark on acceptable performance, and opened hiring from Portland, OR to globally (US, UK, India, Nepal), achieving improved output with flat headcount.
