As an Assistant Engineering Manager (HVDC) at SSEN Transmission, I am dedicated to advancing the standardisation of HVDC converter designs and optimising design interfaces across multiple HVDC projects in the North of Scotland. In this role, I manage multidisciplinary design teams, ensuring the seamless integration of HVDC technology with cables, civil designs, and AC substation components.With direct line management responsibilities, I lead and mentor a diverse team of engineers, fostering collaboration among major contractors and stakeholders. I develop and implement robust processes for design coordination, contribute to tender evaluations, and drive the standardisation of HVDC converter designs across various sites and OEMs.My role also includes ensuring projects are delivered safely and efficiently, with a strong focus on Safe by Design principles, CDM management, and overall project management. Through these efforts, I am committed to delivering innovative, reliable, and sustainable HVDC solutions while promoting continuous learning and development within the team.
