ABOUT ROSS GEMMELL

I am an Underwriting Partner at MAP (Managing Agency Partners), where I have more than a decade of experience. In my role I specialise in Casualty business. My primary focus is on general liability, auto liability, and WCA risks. I write a broad array of risks but have particular expertise in North American transportation and specialist contractors. I also underwrite an established book of medical malpractice reinsurance for physician and hospital mutual insurance companies. Outside of underwriting I have operational responsibility for the syndicate\'s internal model. I played a pivotal role in building and maintaining the syndicate\'s capital models in compliance with the Solvency II directive. I am involved in the syndicate\'s internal reserving, in particular setting a contract level set of reserves for the casualty lines of business. I hold an MEng Degree in Electronic Engineering from Warwick University, I am ACII qualified, and a part-qualification Actuary.Prior to joining Managing Agency Partners, I worked as a Reserving Actuarial Analyst at Markel International and as a Consultant Data Analyst at BAE Applied Intelligence.
