At The Economist, my role as International Editor harnesses almost three decades of expertise in shaping narratives on politics, economics, global affairs and geopolitical trends based on extensive travel and meeting with stakeholders, from presidents, finance ministers and diplomats to civil-society activists and businesspeople.For more than 10 years I was responsible for leading The Economist\'s output on Africa and edited the weekly pages in the Middle East & Africa section. Our coverage of the key political and economic trends across sub-Saharan Africa has been widely praised as essential reading by policy-makers and decision-makers around the world. During this time I built up deep knowledge of many of the region\'s key economies, including Nigeria, South Africa, Ghana and Kenya backed by an extensive network of contacts.
